It comes in an extremely appealing shape – very slim, light and small, seems to be of very high quality and is fast enough for daily use. If you use a rather old computer with low USB power supply the single USB cable might be too less to run the drive; consider buying a Y-cable or a new computer then. For everybody else it’s the better solution because the drive occupies only one plug. The delivered cable is short, however, that means better portability. The software is not powerful but still very useful. As long as you don’t expect more than scheduled daily backups for specific files you should be fine.

This is a fast and convenient way to back up your hard drive, or sync two computers, or migrate files from one computer to another. At 320 GB, it has enough capacity to store what most people need to keep or carry around. It comes with pre-loaded software that allows you to set up automatic back-up, once a day or any day of the week. It is decently fast at data transfer, and runs cool and quiet (it makes a very slight spinning sound at start-up, but you have to listen closely to hear it).

Western Digital 1 TB External HD Review

This is a very reasonably priced TB hard drive. It’s nice that it doesn’t come with any software because I’d rather put all my money towards the hard drive itself rather then to software that I’d be deleting anyway. The hard drive is nice and quite. I have a 500GB hard drive too that makes tons of noise while using it.

• Heavy, solid build, almost bullet-proof enclosure.
• 8″x4″x1″ rectangular prism (these are not exact measurements but I’m confident it’s close.
• USB port for data transfer, cable included.
• External power supply.
• Silent run – you can’t hear it spinning unless you place it close to your ear.

• Not a speed demon but I backed up 50GB in something like 20-30 minutes.

• Comes with no software but it was instantly recognized by both Vista and my PS3 (more about that later)

Western Digital 500 GB External HD Review

This product is just as described, and quite nice. It’s a great price for it’s size; portable and no need for an A/C adapter, just a usb plug. The plug and play factor and weight is the largest plus of this, in my opinion. The only downsides I’ve come across by far is the finger-print-stained cover; it’s best to keep a plastic cover or something over it, to keep it clear and finger print free. And, I didn’t quite expect the WD program to be inside; it’s somewhat troublesome for me, but it’s not bad. I’m just more or so used to the drag-and-drop style of things and my own organization format.

Pros:
- Lowest price I found for a 2.5″ external drive
- No need for a power brick. It is powered by the USB 2.

- So quiet, Just like an Ipod.
- Small enough to fit in your pocket. 0.59″ (H) x 5″ (L) x 3″ (W)
- Comes with the USB cable
- Nice and compact

Toshiba 500 GB External HD Review

I bought this item a month ago as a backup storage for a Dell desktop running Windows XP Home and a Macbook Air. It works great for both Win and Mac. No problem getting power from the USB ports of the two machines. I especially like such portability of this item that I can bring it to my office on weekdays and take backups. It provides enough storage for my office PC and two home computers.

What’s a cool on Toshiba 500 GB External HD:
- No external power adapter (powered by the USB port);
- Small form factor;
- Light weight (light like an iPod);
- Beautiful design;
It’s shipped with Fat32 and I needed to reformat it with NTFS so that large backup files, say, 40GB, can be saved. For Macbook Air, I spared a partition and formatted it with HFS. I don’t keep it connected to one of the two machines as I don’t run daily backups. Instead, I connect it to one of them once in a while, say, once in two weeks and run Windows Backup manually. As for the Air, Time Machine is smart enough to start backup automatically when the Air recognizes the drive.

For safety, I also use the bundled NTI Shadow to backup music files and pictures from my digital camera. File based backups are quite simple and convenient and easy to restore in case of emergency. This is one of the reasons I bought this item when you could choose Western Digital’s Passport. I read some reviews claiming that the software shipped with Passport doesn’t work. If you use different backup software, you could go for Western Digital’s and save a few bucks. But I also liked the design of Toshiba’s better than WD’s. In short, I’m very satisfied with this item.

This USB drive is exactly what I was looking for, large capacity (500 GB), feels durable, compact and light, and simple to use on my Dell or Mac. Requires no electric power, and is so compact that it doesn’t feel like I have anything else in my brief bag. Here are what I like the most on Western Digital 500 GB:

I can’t believe all this storage space in something that fits in your pocket. This drive is fantastic for just about anything. I bought it to be used with a Western Digital TV to play HD content. Now I have 500GB of HD sweetness at my disposal. The drive has an expensive look and feel to it. The piano black is stunning but also invites fingerprints and very easily scratched. Before I bought the drive from Amazon, I bought an invisibleShield for it to protect it. Now I can throw it around without worrying. If you like me, some one who loves his gears, you would want this shield for it. So far, I’m highly recommend Western Digital 500 GB!

Iomega Prestige 1 TB Review

Always remember that outfits like iomega, LaCie, Fantom and others are packagers, not hard drive manufacturers. There are only a few hard drive manufacturers and all of them turn out good products. This does not mean that hard drives don’t fail – they do and anyone who keeps only one copy of critical data is a fool.

The units I purchased both had current models of Seagate Barracuda drives installed: excellent devices. Right now, the drives themselves from some sources cost only a few dollars less than the iomega unit, so you are getting the external housing for just a few dollars. The housing has a power switch, very nice at a time when other manufacturers are eliminating such “frills” and a white activity light on the side, which strikes me as a strange place for it. Since the housing has no fan, there is no fan noise. The noise from the drive itself should be imperceptible. (If it isn’t, return the unit immediately.)The housing remains cool to the touch in use.

The unit size is nice and a plastic base is included for those who prefer a vertical mounting. A power supply and USB cable round out the package.

One of the very nice aspects of this unit is that there is no software installed on the drive – nor is any included in the box. Yea! The drive comes NTFS formatted and, for use with an Apple Macintosh, must be reformatted. Here is what I like the most on Iomega 1 TB HD:

-There’s No annoying software (like my friend’s WD Mybook)
-Runs super quiet
-I’ve had it on for hours at a time and it only gets a little warm
-It’s got a cool stand
-It has a power switch

It’s really sweet HD. I’m certainly recommend Iomega 1 TB HD!

TI-NSpire is and easy to use user friendly device. Its wider that the ti-83/84 but it has a much larger screen. The new keyboard is fantastic. Built from the beginning with a different model of use the the traditional graphing calculator, it enourages users to link multiple representations of mathematical concepts. Ti-NSpire is excellent choice for high school maths.

Texas Instruments TI-NSpire Review

This is an amazing product.It may be a tad big, but you won’t mind after you turn it on.It’s wonderful being able to split screens, you can show the lists and a graph at the same time! It’s very helpful being able to easily manipulate data with the “mouse”. I just got this for my algebra 2 class and it works wonders in there. Problems become easier and more understandable, and if i need help from my teacher I can switch the keyboards and not have to worry about them not knowing how to work the calculator. Here is what I like the most on TI-NSpire:

-Awesome data and statistics and Lists and spreadsheet programs. (Though their interface is a little confusing too.)
-Cool file management system.
-Tab based window management.

The TI-Nspire is truly a new design. Texas Instruments has implemented a true file system, a great display, “pretty print”, and a nice, organized interface for solving problems. Even better, the student can save the problems, link graphical, numerical, and spreadsheet analysis, and even add notes. The ambitious teacher could even create calculator-based problems that utilize all these features and load them on student calculators. So far, it’s good investment for your class. Highly recommended!

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator

TI-84 Plus has a lot of great Apps. It has most of the basics for physics, chem, algebra I & II and a lot more. The keys are also very bright and easy to read. If you download some of its applications, it can help you with almost all subjects in high school and some courses in college. You can share information with other calculators and recieve application information. Great upgrade for the price

TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Review

Ti-84 Plus Silver Edition is a great tool.  It is a great investment for any high school or college student. It is complicated and I highly recommend getting the two “Dummies” Guides. But, when you learn how to use it, this is an amazing tool. I really liked the Study Cards, and use this feature often to create new stacks. The TI 84 Silver Edition graphing calculator is by far, the best graphing calculator out there. Used this for Algebra II and Chemistry, and it was the most important study tool for Chemistry. This Calculator is great for your math needs, and the games are fun for a little relaxation. It only lacks the absolute value signs, but it is easy to work and requires little skill to operate. The TI website offeres quite a few excellent study stacks, and creating your own is pretty easy. Bummer that the TI-83 doesn’t have a USB port, so that version cannot download new programs. On the TI website there are a lot of “manuals” in PDF form. From what I understand, this calculator is allowed in most testing scenarios, where the Titanium is banned. Spend the extra money and get the TI-84 silver plus! .

Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator

TI BA II Plus is a very nice calculator. It is full-featured financial calculator with an attractive appearance. The brushed metal face has a polished metal inset to highlight the primary financial function buttons. The calculator has a solid feel that is consistent with its metal look, and that is further reinforced by the “firm-touch” keypad. Personally, I like the feel of the firm-touch keys and prefer it over a regular keypad, as is found on the BA II Plus Advanced. If you plan to keep your financial calculator around for a while or will use it a lot, and want something nice, then TI BA II is your absolute answer!

The TI BA II Plus professional financial calculator is easy to use. The built in financial functions make it a perfect compliment for people taking finance / accounting classes in preparation for the CFA or CPA exams. You will not be disappointed with the capabilities of this financial calculator. I recently used this one for the CFA level 1 exam, and it worked very well. I have tried the older BA II Plus (not professional) and its almost got the same functionality and smoother buttons. But I like this one too, and this one looks lot better. If they can introduce smoother buttons during their next upgrade, that would be superb. If you are a financial professional needing to calculate anything past addition and subtraction you will find use in this calculator

Texas Instruments TI 83 Plus Review

TI-83 Plus is the best calc you can buy…. This is the best you can get for Geo, Algebra I, II, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Calc II, Trig and College math. The good thing about the TI 83 plus is that it is upgradable, so the need for a new calculator doesn’t arise, every few years. Purchasing a graph-link can add on a TREMENDOUS amount of programs to use for Physics, Geometry, and even 3D-Graphs, (previously only on the ti-89 and up). You can take notes on this calculator with the Ti keybord acsseorie the acsseorie comes with a program for the calculator so you can take notes on it and save them for tests. You can also store things like study cards,games,and all those other important things you need. So far, here are what I like the most on Ti-83 Plus:

1. Very fast, reliable calculations
2. Menu driven, so you can go straight to the category of functions you want, and select your item
3. It’s programmable, and for most applications, you can program useful algorithms and even games (games take up a lot more space than math programs however)
4. Texas Instruments is constantly adding to the number of applications you can get, some for free, some for purchase. My favorites include: Poly Solver, Probability Simulation (you can draw from a deck of cards or roll dice). Also Detached Solutions has several applications such as symbolic math (in its first stages).
5. Finance, Time-value-of-money, days-between-dates, and interest conversion given to you from the get-go.
6. Solver, solve for any variable.

7. Matrices, for linear programming.
8. Graphing, including Function, Sequential, and Polar. (Differential equations app coming soon)
9. Well written manual.

TI-83 Plus works perfect, it’s very light and easy to use. I totally recomend it!

PS: If you are in High School, do NOT get the ti-92 or ti-89, because they will probably be banned from standardized tests, and high math classes, so ask your math teacher, because they are too hard to use and understand.
